In EMEW electrowinning technology, electrolyte circulates rapidly and rapidly (compared to traditional methods) inside the electrowinning cells from the vicinity of the anode and cathode, which significantly improves mass transfer, which leads to Improves system performance.
In the electrowinning process, the refinery’s output electrolyte, which contains copper and other elements, enters copper extraction cells at a volume of 60 m3 per day. As the current passes through the acidic electrolytic liquid, the copper separates from the solution and precipitates on the cathode based on the electroplating process. The copper deposition process will take place in two stages. In the first stage, the soluble copper concentration decreased from 40 gpl to 6.3 gpl then in the second stage, after 36 h, it decreased to 1 gpl. The plant will eventually produce more than 2 tons of LME-grade copper cathode per day.
After complete extraction of copper from the input electrolyte, the de-copperized solution enters the acid purification unit, which at this stage enters the physical and chemical filtration system. Consequently, acidic solution is ready to be pumped back return to the refinery circuit.
The copper cathodes production process with conventional technologies (copper refinery) has always been associated with high degree of life-threatening risks due to the release of arsenic vapor during the process. Using the latest technologies in this project will lead to the reduction of wastes and environmental hazards.
On top of that, one of the by-products of this plant is refined sulfuric acid which enables us to recover 70% of the input acid of this plant and put it use in the production cycle which will also have a great economic and environmental impact.
Due to the fundamental role and widespread use of nickel metal in the global alloy industry, this product plays a strategic role in the country’s advanced and sensitive industries. Domestic production of this metal will significantly reduce country’s dependence on imports of this product from other countries and will also make Iran one of the few countries which exports this precious metal to other countries.

The aim of this project is to build a lime plant for producing Quicklime (150 TDP) and a hydration plant for producing Hydrated Lime (10 TPH) in Azarbaijan province.
